peace of mind: 3 person getaway
Proposal - never performed for gallery insurance and liability reasons. Performance/Installation: mark cooley, beth hall and child perform a 72 hour bioterror "Getaway". The family lives in the gallery separated from visitors by a plastic and duct tape wall (built to government specifications of course). Using the provisions in the Emergency Preparedness Center's 4 Person Getaway 72 Hour Kit, the family performs in a real-time diorama where visitors may gaze at the absurdity of US 21st century "readiness" programs. As with any museum diorama, the gallery experience is contextualized for viewers by the addition of signage and "interactive" information displays. In this context, these devices will help visitors familiarize themselves with an often untold history of The United States Military Industrial Complex. Questions: What is Security, and to whom does it belong?
